Top 5 stories on the GoErie Facebook page this week

This week was filled with breaking news stories, and our Facebook top five reflects that.

We calculated the list using Facebook's "engaged users" metric.

1. Officials: Erie officer acted properly in fatal shooting

An Erie police officer shot and killed an armed man on the city's east side late Wednesday. This breaking news was the top viewed story of the week at 3,861 people. It received 11 likes, two shares, 13 comments and 16 likes on comments.

2. Police suspect 'Bucket List Bandit' in Erie bank robbery

GoErie Facebook fans have followed the story of the robbery of the Huntington Bank, 2185 W. 12th St., on Monday through the week. The initial post garnered nine likes, four shares and six comments and was seen by 3,836 people.

3. Kanzius Foundation stands behind choice of Beck

We asked Facebook followers what they thought of the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation's decision to feature Glenn Beck at its first national conference, and they responded in the form of 27 likes, 58 comments and 99 likes on comments.

4. Man intentionally strikes two cars in Erie

While our coverage of a man driving his car into two vehicles -- including a police car -- did not receive a lot of engagement (three likes and one share,) 3,210 people saw the post.

5. Ohio's Cedar Point blows up venerable tower

The demise of the Space Spiral ride at Cedar Point was shared once, liked twice and commented on once.

#ErieGram photos continue to do well on the Facebook page. We featured two this week, and they received a combined 113 likes, 15 shares and two comments.
